The Palm Springs area offers many museums to visit. There are three types of museums.
Historical and Art Museums - displays art and historical items.
Palm Springs Art Museum - offers many different events to satisfy everyone's preference. In addition, to exhibits, the museum offers classes and performances.
Agua Caliente Cultural Museum - this expanding museum documents the past and present of the Agua Calienta area and
Cabot's Pueblo Museum - located at the home Cabot Yerxa built in the early 1900's. The home took him 24 years to build and has many levels with 35 rooms, 150 windows and over 60 The museum is filled with early 1900's artifacts and the Pueblo Art Gallery.
Cabazon Cultural Museum - offers a look at the history of the Mission Indians.
Coachella Valley Museum and Cultural Center - displays area artifacts and focuses on local artists. The museum is located in Indio at an early 1900's home.
Desert Holocaust Memorial - Rancho Mirage hosts this memorial honoring the holocaust victims and survivors. With seven very large bronze figures the memorial is a very moving and provides an opportunity to learn about this period in history.
General Patton Memorial Museum - located in Indio this museum displays historical items about General Patton and World War II.

Heartland, California Museum of the Heart - this art gallery and museum is located in Rancho Mirage.
La Quinta Historical Society - La Quinta displays the history of the city and surrounding areas in
McCallum Adobe and Miss Cornelia White's House - in the late 1800's two early residents John G. McCallum and Miss Cornelia White built their homes in the Palm Springs area. This museum tours their homes and displays life in the late 1800's.

Ruddy's General Store Museum - located in Palm Springs. Learn about the history of general stores in early Palm Springs history.
Children's Museum - hands on learning for kids of all ages

Children's Discovery Museum of the Desert - designed to promote interactive learning. CDMOD offers a variety of hands on exhibits for exploring of all ages.
Special Air Museum - Aircraft museum
Palm Springs Air Museum is an educational opportunity to learn about the history of aircraft in World War II. Some of the aircraft on display include the Wildcat, Hellcat and B17 Flying Fortress.

Other Museums:
Jude E. Pynter Golf Museum - located in Palm Desert. The history of golf and the memorabilia are displayed.
