Indio
Indio is the "City of Festivals". Every year, the city is the host to many popular events, fairs and festivals for all residents of the Coachella Valley to enjoy.
Indio began as a railroad stop around the year 1886. Around the same time, the president of the railroad brought shoots or clippings from Date plants. The city had the perfect environment for growing Dates. Today, Indio produces an estimated 95% of the date crop for the United States.

Indio is the home to the Coachella Valley Museum. This museum was opened in 1984 and details all of the transformation Coachella Valley and the local cities faced. This museum houses the details of all the history of this quickly changing valley. Other local attractions and entertainment options include the Indio Fashion Mall for shopping and the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino for anyone looking to test their luck and many of the best restaurants in the Palm Springs area are located in this city.

Riverside County Fair with Date Festival
The "City of Festivals" has been home to the National Date Festival & County Fair over a half of a century. This Fair and Festival is each February and it lasts for a week. Each day is filled with live entertainment and other entertainment like camel and ostrich races. Just like any other fair you need to sample some of it's full of food and shopping opportunities. |

Red, White and Blue Polo and Balloon Festival
Spend a weekend in early January with Celebrities, Hot Air Balloons and watching polo. The admission is free with a donation to benefit and support our armed service men and women. Indio is proud to host this special festival to assist our american heroes. |
