Indio

Indio is the "City of Festivals".  Every year, the city is the host to many popular events, fairs and festivals for all residents of the Coachella Valley to enjoy.

Indio began as a railroad stop around the year 1886.  Around the same time, the president of the railroad brought shoots or clippings from Date plants.  The city had the perfect environment for growing Dates.  Today, Indio produces an estimated 95% of the date crop for the United States.
