Named in 1901, Coachella located at eastern portion of Palm Springs, didn't become a city until over 40 years later.  Coachella is a quick 30 minute drive from the Salton Sea.  Coachella received two very appropriate nicknames first "City of Eternal Sunshine" and second as the "Gateway to the Salton Sea."

Coachella, Gateway to the Salton Sea

Coachella has become home to young families.  The city remains very rural with a large agriculture crop.  The city exports lemons, avocados, figs, persimmons and more more.  Coachella is located along the Colorado River which helps irrigate more than 70,000 acres for agriculture.

Coachella offers many small town amenities and quick access to the big city conveniences.  Coachella has restaurants ranging from well known fast food to locally owned eateries.  Shopping is plentiful but a larger selection is just minutes away in local cities like Palm Springs and Palm Desert.

Family Friendly Coachella

Coachella like the other cities of this valley offers many outdoor activities. The close proximity to the Salton Sea provides landscape unique to Coachella. Calcite Canyon will offer unique rock formation and sandstone to view and even an abundant plant and animal wildlife to enjoy. Other outdoor opportunities include Mecca Hills and Slot Ladder Canyon which both offer a very unique and beautiful place for a day of hiking.
